Hey there, adventurous souls!
Whether you’re planning a solo trip or jet-setting with your girl gang, safety should always be your top priority. As a female traveler, it’s essential to be prepared and aware. This is not meant to scare you. However, we live in an imperfect world and therefore have to be cautious and informed.
1. Share Your Plans (Stay Connected)
Always share your travel itinerary with someone you trust. Let them know where you’re going, where you’re staying, and how they can reach you. It’s a simple step that can provide peace of mind for both you and your loved ones.
* I use the Find my friends and Life 360 apps to share my location.
2. Trust Your Instincts (Listen to Your Gut)
If something feels off, it probably is. Whether it’s a person, a place, or a situation, trust your instincts and remove yourself from any uncomfortable or potentially dangerous situations.
3. Use Reliable Transportation (Ride Safe)
Opt for licensed taxis or reputable ride-sharing services when traveling around. Avoid getting into unmarked cars or accepting rides from strangers to ensure your safety on the road.
* Uber is always my first choice because I like the “pin confirmation” option and the ability to share my trip status.
4. NEVER say you’re traveling alone (Guard Your Privacy)
I know you’re excited about your travels, but DON’T post in real time. Be cautious when sharing personal information, especially online. Avoid posting detailed travel plans or checking in at specific locations on social media to prevent potential stalking or theft.
* Have a made up story for the inevitable questions: who are you here with? Are you traveling alone?
5. Have a plan of how to get from airport to accomodation (Plan Ahead)
This is probably the most important tip of all. There is nothing worse than being alone in a foreign country, at the airport, without a way to get to your accomodation. Typically the taxis directly outside of the exit are overpriced and sometimes only accept cash. The ride share apps require cell data or wifi, which isn’t always functioning. My point is, have a plan before you board the plane.
* 3 options I use are pre-arranged pick up with the hotel staff, purchasing an e sim for mobile data, or taking out local currency before your trip so you can get a taxi.

There you have it, girls. Traveling is an incredible experience, but it’s crucial to prioritize your safety every step of the way. Remember these tips, stay aware, and most importantly, enjoy every moment of your adventures!
Safe travels! ✈️🌍💖
